Losing the training wheels: Seven years with Strategy and Authority

Losing the training wheels: Seven years with Strategy and Authority

The Revelation happened in January 1987, on Ibiza, over eight days that Ra Uru Hu would spend the rest of his life trying to translate into something a human being could actually use. What most people don’t know is that for nearly a decade afterward, there was no Type. No Strategy. No Authority. None of the architecture people now treat as the whole of Human Design existed yet. Ra began teaching in the early nineties working purely with the gestalt of a chart: the raw shape of a design, its definition, its centers, without any of the scaffolding that came later.

What Human Design was never meant to be

What Human Design was never meant to be

Two moments in my years with Human Design brought me close to walking away entirely. The first was sometime in late 2020, when I read Steve Rhodes’ account of Ra Uru Hu’s original transmission — the prophecy, the Raves, the end of human evolution as we know it. What I had understood as a system for self-knowledge suddenly revealed a stranger, darker cosmology beneath it. I felt disoriented in a way I hadn’t expected. I had trusted this system with something precious — my understanding of myself — and now I wasn’t sure what I had actually been trusting.

Human Design: The mirror you didn’t know you were looking for

Human Design arrived in the world in 1987, transmitted to a man named Ra Uru Hu during an unusual experience in Ibiza. He spent the following decades teaching what he received — a synthesis of the I Ching, the Hindu chakra system, Western and Vedic astrology, the Kabbalah, and modern physics — into a single, remarkably precise map of how a human being operates.

The Uncomfortable Art of Staying Open

Every second, roughly a hundred trillion neutrinos pass through your body. These are subatomic particles, moving at nearly the speed of light, carrying information from the sun, the stars, the planets. They pass through walls, through Earth, through everything — including you. And because they carry a tiny amount of mass, they leave a trace. They condition you, continuously, with the frequencies of everything they’ve moved through before arriving.

The Emotional One

The Emotional One

There’s a sentence I’ve heard in more than one relationship, in more than one form. You’re the emotional one. Sometimes it arrives with tenderness, almost like an endearment. Sometimes as an explanation, offered to make sense of a moment that felt confusing. And sometimes, quietly, as a way to close a door before it’s even properly opened.

No choice

No choice

“No choice, said the Voice.” That line appears at the back of Ra Uru Hu’s earliest publication, the White Book, from 1995. Most people who encounter Human Design never really stop there. They move past it toward the types, the strategies, the authorities, the profiles — toward everything the system offers that feels actionable, useful, empowering.

The Uncomfortable Art of Intimacy: A Short Story

Once upon a time, there was a woman who was born to cause upheaval. Not because she was difficult, though some called her that. Not because she was too much, though many implied it. But because she carried in her very design the frequency of disruption, the kind that...
